Measuring Tips
Tips on Measuring for Curtains:
- Use a metal measuring tape.
- Take exact measurements & round down to the nearest ¼".
- Be sure to clearly identify which measurement is the width & which is the length.
- Use the window diagram below as a guide:
- Determine where you will place brackets, inside the frame or on the molding.
- Measure the width of the window from the bracket to bracket. Actual curtain width is usually at least 1½ times the window width. Increase for more fullness. The curtain widths listed may vary with fabric shrinkage.
- Measure the length of where the curtain will be to the sill or lower if desired.* Our curtains usually include header and rod pocket or the tabs in the length of the curtain. Please check the particular curtain style.
*Note: Curtain length is a matter of preference and may be anywhere from less than halfway, to the sill, to the apron, to the baseboard, or to the floor. Longer curtains are more formal, while shorter lengths are more casual.
